About Jessica Sprecher

When I was just a girl, I struggled with reading so much that I told my mom that I would get a job that didn’t require it. However, I always adored stories and imagining them in my mind, and eventually I blossomed into a rabid reader who devoured the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy in about a month at thirteen years old. Now I craft stories that showcase healthy human relationships filled with redemption, as I crave these stories but struggled to uncover them. When I’m not daydreaming my next story or writing it out, you can find me jamming to songs on my favorite rocking chair or reading a good book. If I’m doomscrolling, yell at me.

So many young adult and new adult books these days are filled to the brim with toxic relationships, shoddily done redemption storylines (if there is one at all), and even sex scenes that are labeled as “spice.” When perusing new books to read, it was so hard to find the kind of books I desired. What if the book I pick up has a toxic romance that isn’t addressed as such? What if there is spice?

Thus, my mission is to write powerful YA and NA stories that showcase the beauty of redemption, family, forgiveness, and romance in a healthy way. If there’s a toxic relationship, it will be shown to be such, and they will either separate or have a redemptive reconciliation. And in my books there will never be a sex scene, so you won’t have to worry as you flip through the pages.

My Quest

Fun Facts About Me:

  • I work at a public library! (It’s not nearly as quiet and peaceful as people tell you it is.)

  • I get passionate about topics very easily and will fixate on them until something new catches my attention.

  • My preferred way to drink coffee is with honey (but I drink tea more, shh).

  • I have never owned a pet (I know, I know, the horror).

  • Procrastination is one of my bad habits.

  • I have never been to Boston in the fall. But I have been to Boston in the summer.

  • My old youth group was like my very own found family trope experience.
